House move

Used p&m movers for a full house the lads are so polite and helpful and trust I had some very awkward furniture to move. Very stressful at beginning as dates kept changing but jacqui was absolutely amazing and took all the stress away. Very competitive on price. I can not recommend this company more brilliant from start to finish ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐all the way

Long-distance move from West Yorkshire to West Yorkshire

Unprofessional service

Unprofessional service

When they arrived, they did not use suitable packaging etc which lead to 7 items of furniture being damaged in the move (not all of this was flat pack furniture some being from Barker and Stonehouse which was damaged) The damaged flat pack furniture was not due to being flat pack and not going back correctly, it was damaged due to poor handling and assembling

After many times contacting back and forth they sent someone out to try to fix the problem with white nail varnish which we wouldn’t not accept this was a suitable repair. They then refused to do anything and we proceeded to take them to the small claims court

We went to small claims where we were awarded compensation for the damaged furniture. There is a clause in paperwork to say they would only pay £40 for each item of furniture damaged – lucky we were not given this paperwork by P&M movers so received more than the £40 per item. After the claim was successful, they only paid half the amount on time. From our experience we will not be using this company again as they did not follow their own procedures set out in the offer letter and did not carry out a professional service

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: £1100

Official company response

This removal was part of a court arbitration case settled out of court as a full and final settlement. I am not getting into what is right or wrong as no comment should have been made as per the settlement. I could take action but that is giving in to this sort of abuse. What I will state, is the case was settled by a judge in arbitration court and they got nothing like what they wanted. They threatened us saying unless we paid them triple the moving fee, they would take us to court, which is why we went to court who would not hear it and sent it to arbitration court. This is mainly about flatpack furniture which the judge in the arbitration court refused to accept as they tried to claim brand new furniture. The court pointed out that it is not covered in the contract and you have to sign a disclaimer stating you are fully aware that flatpack will not be part of the insurance contract, which you signed before the job started. Look at our website as makes it 100% clear what is or is not covered and we are the only company in the Uk that makes this clear on the front page of their website and we are the only company that have a detailed explanation page covering important parts of the terms and conditions. Statements made by the wife Emma Morris are nothing close to what was stated in arbitration court which is also part of the arbitration court record. I could if I wished produce the court record to show where she is expanding the truth somewhat and has a loose attitude to the facts. The clause of £40 she constantly keeps going on about is the price for uninsured furniture by the client. It is the client’s responsibility to state the price of expensive items that need insuring as we do not provide accidental damage. We explain to our clients they covered by their own home and contents insurance even though they in most cases they are not aware of this. If you want higher removals cover the price of the removal will change as we then take out further accident insurance. This is to cover the extra high value items which costs us a lot of money so this makes no sense when the client can do it far cheaper than us. This value clause is the same for all the big removals companies and its basic removals advise given out by B.A.R the industry leading trade body.
This is the full section which is also highlighted on our website.
8.1 We do not know the value of Your goods therefore We limit Our liability to a fixed limit per item. The amount of liability We accept under this agreement is reflected in Our charges for the work. If You wish Us to increase Our limit of liability per item You agree to pay a higher price for the work as stated in Condition 1.2.11 (Our Quotation).
8.2 Unless otherwise agreed in writing if we are negligent or in breach of contract, We will pay You up to £40 for each item which is lost or damaged as a direct result of any negligence or breach of contract on Our part.
The important thing is if you want things covered for a higher price you have to pay the insurance cost. This you will find on any contract covering any insured goods.
What Emma Morris states in this review are not as true as she makes out and were part of a settled arbitration case and as such should not be commented on.
